I am challenging myself to improve my design abilities in what, I hope, will be a fun and effective way. Each day I will create a graphic for a word that starts with the next letter of the alphabet and which is representative of something that happened to me that day or something that is timely in some manner. While I will do my best to stick to this there is a chance that I will miss a day. But that’s okay. This is really intended for me to focus on building my design skills in a more intentional way, so I’ll just continue on with that letter the next day.
Update: Yup, that daily thing didn’t happen. I’ve found I was getting stuck with trying to come up with some word for the alphabetical aspect of the challenge. The purpose of this wasn’t to challenge my creativity, though, of course, that is a big part of design. Primarily, the purpose was to challenge my design skills and improve my effectiveness with the software I use. Coming up with some word to fit an arbitrary rule is just too limiting for me right now. Additionally, I’m not going to hold myself to any firm timeframe with design for a while. Between Christmas in a few weeks and my focus on releasing an app to the App Store, it wouldn’t be honest of me to say this is going to happen every day or week or however long.
